has made it clear that we have until 2030 to take positive and real climate action.

We call on Huntingdonshire District Council, Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough & Cambridgeshire Combined Authority to:

• Declare a climate emergency
• Set a target for the area to go carbon neutral by 2030 and put a plan in place to achieve this aim
• Call on Government to support the both Councils and the Combined Authority to achieve this aim
• Establishment of a Citizens Assembly on climate breakdown.
• A Green New Deal for the the county, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs in a low-carbon economy.
• Providing funding for the local area to achieve carbon neutral by 2030, allowing work towards this ambition.

More and more Councils across the UK and around the world are declaring a climate emergency, and leading by example where national Governments are failing. By taking this step, we will send a message to Westminster that we want real climate action now.

Not only this, but taking this step also has the potential to make Cambridgeshire a better place to live for its citizens, with cleaner streets, warmer homes and closer communities.

This is an emergency. Let’s treat it like one.
