Defend Westminster, Defend Our Future: NO to Authoritarianism!
Mayor Chi Charlie Nguyen and Westminster City Council Members Amy Phan West, NamQuan Nguyen, Kimberly Ho
Just one year after the city avoided bankruptcy and after years of struggles faced in finding a qualified city manager, Westminster City Councilmembers Amy Phan West and NamQuan Nguyen are pushing to terminate City Manager Christine Cordon for not succumbing to every demand by the two council members. These authoritarian actions are deeply concerning as it jeopardizes the wellbeing of Westminster residents and threatens the future of the city.
Westminster needs a strong administration to navigate ongoing challenges after avoiding bankruptcy. Dismissing a key staff member responsible for the city's stability is a reckless, authoritarian decision. Authoritarian leadership concentrates power, enforces control, and limits dissent. It disregards consultation, imposes strict rules, and suppresses individual freedoms.
Join Vietnamese residents and Westminster Councilmember Carlos Manzo in denouncing these authoritarian actions, urging them not to fire the City Manager, and in demanding transparency, accountability, and genuine dialogue with the community.

Dear Members of the Westminster City Council,
We, the undersigned Vietnamese residents of Westminster, CA, and in Orange County, CA are writing to express our deep concern and denounce the recent actions of Westminster City Council Members Amy Phan West and NamQuan Nguyen in their attempt to terminate City Manager Christine Cordon. As members of the Westminster community, we firmly believe in the importance of transparency, accountability, and the preservation of the crucial role of the city manager in ensuring the well-being and progress of our city.
Just one year after overcoming the challenges of bankruptcy and the arduous search for a qualified city manager, it is disheartening to witness efforts to remove City Manager Christine Cordon, who has played a pivotal role in steering the city towards recovery. We firmly believe that her dismissal would be a reckless and authoritarian decision, detrimental to the stability and welfare of our Westminster community.
Being authoritarian means exercising a style of leadership characterized by the concentration of power, strict control, and limited or no tolerance for dissent or opposition. We believe that effective leadership requires consultation, collaboration, and a commitment to the best interests of the community. It is essential that our city council prioritize the well-being of our city, value the expertise of our city manager, and foster an environment that encourages open dialogue and diverse perspectives.
We stand united with fellow residents and community organizations in demanding transparency, accountability, and a commitment to the continued progress and stability of the City of Westminster. We urge the Westminster City Council to reconsider their actions, engage in constructive dialogue with the city manager and community members, and uphold the principles that contribute to a thriving and inclusive community.
