SIGN NOW: DEMAND DARK MONEY GROUPS BE REQUIRED TO DISCLOSE THEIR DONORS

All Members of Congress

$800 million. That’s the amount of dark money that’s been dumped into our elections since the disastrous 2010 Citizens United Supreme Court decision.

A new report from Issue One entitled “Dark Money Illuminated” shows that 75% of that $800 million has come from just 15 dark money groups. And, the report has identified approximately 400 donors and donor organizations who have funded the top 15 dark money groups.

This means that 400 of our nation’s wealthiest families and organizations are effectively bankrolling our elections for personal gain.

Until Congress fully accepts its responsibility to create laws that empower the voices of all Americans—and not simply the donor class, who can, and will, continue to spend millions of dollars to influence elections—the political system will answer to the highest bidder, and the public will remain in the dark about who is calling the shots.

Sign our petition and demand that Congress pass legislation that requires dark money groups to disclose their donors and to list their top donors on TV and online ads.

If you have the guts to play in politics or attack a candidate running for office, you should have the courage to put your name on it.

The dark money groups and anonymous donors behind them that endlessly bombard Americans with television ads spouting half-truths and outright lies are doing a disservice to voters. The American people deserve to know who is attempting to influence their vote. We demand that Congress act to require dark money groups to disclose their donors and to list their top donors on TV and online ads. Until Congress fully accepts its responsibility to create laws that empower the voices of everyday Americans over dark money groups, our political system will continue to answer to the highest bidder, not we the people.
