Divest QUT from Fossil Fuel Investments

Vice Chancellor and CEO Professor Peter Coaldrake

Fossil Free QUT is a group of students and staff concerned about QUT’s investments in fossil fuel companies. We estimate that QUT has about $30 million invested in coal, oil, and gas companies. At a time when we need a rapid reduction in the reliance on fossil fuels , our uni is investing in the fossil fuel industry. We’re calling on the university to put its money where its mouth is and stop investing in the problem, and instead invest in the solution. Please sign to show your support.

As members of the Queensland University of Technology community, we, the undersigned, call on the University to:
1. Immediately freeze new investment in fossil-fuel companies, and
2. Divest within five years from direct ownership of and from any commingled funds that include fossil-fuel public equities and corporate bonds, and
3. Achieve maximum transparency through the public and regular reporting of progress towards achieving a low carbon investment portfolio.
