Don't Cut the 508

First Bus and the Mayor of West Yorkshire

First Bus have cut the frequency of the 508 bus from every half hour to every hour.

The 508 connects Halifax and Leeds via Shelf, Wibsey, Bierley, Holmewood, Tyersal, Thornbury and Farsley. It is an important bus for commuters, students and people wanting to go into Leeds or Halifax for social purposes.

The service is being reduced from half-hourly service to every hour through the day, while early morning and late evening services also axed.

As the cost of living has risen, buses offer an affordable way for people to get around without having to pay petrol and parking charges. We should be expanding our bus network - not cutting it. We deserve better buses!

We demand that First Bus reverse the decision to cut the frequency of the 508. We also call on the Mayor of West Yorkshire to arrange urgent talks to maintain this important service.
