The American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League
Every show, in every theater and every location, has been made better by its chorus and ensemble performers. On Broadway, these performers often work seven days a week, performing eight shows a week, and learning multiple roles, all to make their shows a success.
As theatre professionals and theatergoers, we believe it’s time for choruses and ensembles to get the awards recognition they deserve!

We, members of the professional theatre community and the audience, believe it is time for chorus and ensemble performers to get the recognition they deserve!
Chorus and ensemble performers work tirelessly to make their shows successful. Every lead performance, every prop and piece of set design, every word in every script, every note in every song, is made better by the talent and dedication of the dynamic choruses and ensembles that underpin their shows. And many performers work their entire careers in these critically important roles.
The Tony Awards are Broadway’s most visible night. We ask that the American Theatre Wing and the Broadway League create two new categories for 2019—“Best Chorus in a Play or Musical” and “Best Ensemble in a Play or Musical”—to honor the contributions of chorus and ensemble cast members.
The work of these performers more than warrants consideration for awards categories. Please support the creation of these new awards categories today.
