A quarter of older Americans rely on Social Security for 90 percent of their income, and half of seniors rely on Social Security for at least 50 percent of their income.
About 40 percent of elderly Americans would have an income below the poverty line without Social Security.
That's why we need to make sure that the promise we have made to our retirees is kept and earned benefits are there for current and future generations.
