"Free from Fear" - support Ryanair Prague Cabin Crew in their struggle for dignity!

Michal Kaczmarzyk (CEO "Ryanair Sun S.A."), Grace Meehan (Deputy HR Manager "Workforce International Contractors Ltd."), Michael O'Leary (CEO "Ryanair Holdings")

Once Michael O'Leary was asked how he manages his staff and he was supposed to answer "fear works well".

Even with this knowledge we have started this B. United union dream with the intention and the hope of being able to facilitate communication with Ryanair and to give a voice to all the cabin crew in Prague.

Ryanair Sun/Buzz presented itself from the very first moment as a company that was open to dialogue and that wished all the best for its employees.

From September 2019 we have been pressured to sign new, worse contracts. We were pushed to sign under the pretence that "it will be better for us in the end". They offered only three options: sign, transfer or dismissal.

We signed and naively trusted their good intention.

However this week, following the coronavirus crisis, we have received contracts with even worse conditions. But this time only two options were given: sign or dismissal.

We understand that these are hard times for everybody, employees and employer, however these organizational decisions should not be made without discussion with all people involved.

After we announced our existence to the company, in faith of having a constructive dialogue, the company viciously replied by unlawful immediate termination to three board members - Matteo Pizzolato, Andrea Schiraldi and Izhar Arcos Poveda. Our contracts are based under the local Czech law and the termination of board members without Unions approval is illegal under the articles 62 and 69 of the Czech Labour Code. The B.United union wishes to make publicly known that this approval was NOT given in any way.

It is Ryanair's tactic to spread fear, because they know they can not win against the power of a united workforce.

Right now this petition is not about these three people, it is about all of us who gave their effort and trust to Ryanair. It does not just involve few individuals, it involves every single one of us. One month ago it was 20 people, today it is another 3, how many will it be tomorrow?

By signing this petition you express to the world that laws should be followed. That no company should enrich itself on the expense of its employees. Because at the end of the day, it is US, who makes them the profits. Your signature is crucial in order to implore on Ryanair the immediate rehire of the board members. These members took a risk when presenting themselves to the company in order to fight for our rights and now it is our time to show that they are not alone.

Our demands:

  • reinstate the 3 unlawfully dismissed B.United workers representatives,

  • Ryanair should engage in genuine dialog with workers representatives about our working conditions

We need to keep standing for all of our rights. Stand with us: we have a loud and powerful voice and we want it to be heard.

All together we are invincible: be together, stay together, fight together.
