Jose Castaneda Garcia is currently being held at the Northwest Detention Center. He is one of our many Free Them All campaigns.
“I am Jose Castaneda Garcia, and I have been detained at the Northwest Detention Center (NWDC) in Tacoma for 8 1/2 months.
I possess substantial evidence supporting my case, including a re-entry dismissal from a federal judge in Texas. However, the judge here refuses to acknowledge this evidence. Despite not having committed any crime, I remain in detention, and my case is still pending.
Initially, I was denied access to the medical equipment necessary for treating my sleep apnea.
The living conditions at this facility are substandard, with inadequate medical care, poor food quality, and restrictive access to the yard. It is essential to recognize that this facility profits from detaining individuals, and negligence has resulted in loss of life.
In my case, I have sufficient grounds for release, but immigration authorities refuse to acknowledge this. I remain in detention, incurring substantial expenses, including the commissary and communication with my family, which affects my loved ones outside.
I implore the public to assist me and my family in securing my release so that I can reunite with my wife, children, and grandchildren. I would really be grateful for that.”
