GE Is Kicking Eligible Dependents Off Their Insurance - Reinstate Them Now!

General Electric Workers' family members across the country are being kicked off of GE’s insurance plans. The company performed a 3rd party audit to verify dependents were eligible for GE benefits. GE said “this review is not intended to take away coverage from eligible dependents but, rather, to ensure that people receiving coverage are entitled to it." The result was that eligible dependents were kicked off their benefits and GE is offering no recourse to fix the problem and give families back their coverage.

As of January 1st, GE unions began receiving calls from members that their dependents no longer had insurance. Most people were notified by their doctor at an appointment that they no longer had coverage and needed to pay full price for their healthcare. Union representatives offered to provide the information requested to verify dependent eligibility, however the company refuses to put workers' eligible dependents back on the coverage guaranteed in our contract. GE owns their insurance and is fully capable of adding eligible dependents back on the plan.

Right now, children and spouses of GE workers cannot get the health care they need because GE refuses to re-enroll eligible dependents they kicked off of their insurance. They said the "review [was] not intended to take away coverage from eligible dependents" -- they lied.
