Get big money OUT of Columbus elections

Mayor Andrew Ginther

On November 28, Mayor Ginther announced his proposal for campaign finance "reform." Here are the facts:

  • It requires some organizations (like SuperPACs) to disclose their funders;
  • It establishes a $12,707.79 campaign contribution limit (for people, PACs and others)

While we support efforts to shine light on dark money, a $12,707.79 limit is smoke and mirrors. Big money interests will continue to buy out local politicians. Wealthy developers will continue to get massive tax breaks, and working families will continue to pay the price.

Sign the petition to demand an end to the pay-to-play system at City Hall. We want our families, our schools and our neighborhoods to have a government that's accountable to us all — not just the wealthy few.

As Columbus residents and voters, we the undersigned want our families, our schools and our neighborhoods to have a government that works for all of us — not just a wealthy few.

The proposed $12,707.79 limit is unacceptable for Columbus. It allows big money to keep control of our elections, and it does nothing to stop the pay-to-play system at City Hall.

We want Columbus to get serious about getting big money out of our elections. We want you and your administration to stop taking money from wealthy developers and corporate CEOs, stop proposing absurdly high campaign contribution limits, and start making real, visible commitments to end the pay-to-play system in City Hall once and for all.
