Green New Deal for Public Schools

Every day, millions of public school students, teachers, and staff work and learn in crumbling, unventilated buildings that swelter in summer and freeze in winter. It's high time our children's schools and teachers received the respect they deserve!

The Green New Deal for Public Schools will invest $1.4 trillion over ten years in America's K-12 public schools to build the carbon-free, climate resilient schools of tomorrow. That funding will create 1.3 million jobs per year and eliminate 78 million tons of CO, annually, while also hiring more teachers and staff, removing toxic materials, expanding community services, and closing the education gap.

We in Los Angeles aim to get House Representatives Linda Sanchez, Karen Bass, and Judy Chu to co-sponsor this bill to increase funding for public schools through better infrastructure, staffing increases, expanding social services programming, and support for students with economic and learning disabilities.

We demand that Congress support increasing funding for public schools, by championing the Green New Deal for Public Schools.

We need all hands on deck in order to do it! Together, we can create the future our children deserve. Join us!

Representatives Sanchez, Bass, and Chu,

We strongly urge that you co-sponsor the Green New Deal for Public Schools, and fight for massive investment in green retrofits and education funding in the infrastructure package.

Public schools in your district will benefit from investment in infrastructure, staffing, and social services provided by this bill. Co-sponsor the Green New Deal for Public Schools Act!
