Housing is a human right. Sign the petition: Demand Congress pass a Homes Guarantee for ALL.
U.S. Congress
Big banks and corporate developers have pushed over 3 million families into homelessness and 21 million more households to spend 30% or more of their monthly income on housing alone. This is a crisis, and poor people and communities of color are unjustly bearing the brunt of it. Families who live paycheck to paycheck are just one emergency away from losing their homes.
What’s more? With an exceedingly warm climate, experts predict anywhere from 50 million to one billion people will be displaced by climate-related disasters by 2050. Our elected officials must take swift action to address housing insecurity and displacement across the country.
Just this fall, progressive organizers in the U.S. unveiled the Homes Guarantee, which lays out how our country can ensure safe, affordable housing for all. And progressive leaders in Congress have introduced bold housing policy to build 12 million units of affordable housing for the families who urgently need it, reinvest in existing public housing, pay reparations to communities of color for centuries of racist housing policies, provide expanded protections for renters and tenants, and de-commodify housing by moving towards community-controlled housing.
Our lawmakers owe their constituents like Tiana Caldwell, a descendant of enslaved people and veterans who were excluded from the G.I. bill, who was forced to choose between cancer treatments or paying rent and Jermain Abdullah, a formerly incarcerated man whose only housing option was a filthy, leaky, and roach-infested homeless shelter for three years, and many others.
Sign the petition: Demand our lawmakers put human rights above corporate profits by guaranteeing housing for all.

With a growing number of climate change-exacerbated disasters and income inequality on the rise, I demand that you pass legislation that guarantees housing for all by creating 12 million new units of affordable housing for those who urgently need it, reinvesting in existing public housing, paying reparations to communities of color for centuries of racist housing policies, providing expanded protections for renters and tenants, and de-commodifying housing by moving towards community-controlled housing.
