Hy-Vee: Respect Your Workers

Hy-Vee

Hy-Vee is coming to the Twin Cities and planning to open stores across the area. Their promotional materials make it seem like that’s a good thing, but is it?

In many grocery stores throughout our region, workers have decided to come together to make their workplaces better by forming unions. As newcomer Hy-Vee sets up shop in our neighborhoods, we need to ask them now to commit to respecting their workers’ rights to speak up together to make work better and address workplace issues.

If Hy-Vee workers want to join a union, we need to make sure Hy-Vee allows them to form one.

As Minnesotans, we are proud of our workforce. When new businesses open up shop here, we want them to be partners in helping to rebuild our economy and strengthen working families―not just make a quick buck by driving down standards. When we talk about good jobs, we mean jobs that pay well and give employees a collective voice on the job.

While you’re readying to open stores across the Twin Cities area, we urge you to be a good employer and respect your workers’ choice to join together in a union without interference or fear of retaliation, should they seek to do so.

Please commit now to being a responsible and respectful employer.

Welcome to Minnesota.
