Join the Movement for Affordable Homeownership in Texas!

Texas is facing a housing affordability crisis, with many families, students, and essential workers struggling to find homes they can afford. Senate Bill 208 and House Bill 4505 propose the creation of a statewide revolving loan fund to empower nonprofit builders to construct more affordable homes without raising taxes.

Already, nearly 90 Texas A&M students have signed in support of this initiative, demonstrating the growing momentum behind this cause.

Petition in Support of Senate Bill 208 & House Bill 4505

SB 208 & HB 4505 create the Workforce Housing Capital Investment Fund to help build more affordable homes for working-class Texans. The fund will provide zero-interest loans to eligible housing nonprofit organizations that develop affordable housing for low-moderate income families throughout Texas. These loans will help nonprofits like B/CS Habitat to purchase raw land and to afford the infrastructure costs associated with building subdivisions, like streets and utilities. Further, it will provide opportunities for training for students looking to gain certification in some of the much-needed trade fields like electricians and plumbers. Your support of this effort is vital!

Why It Matters:

More affordable homes for low- and middle-income families

Zero-interest loans make nonprofit affordable housing development more accessible

Supports infrastructure improvements like streets & utilities

Strengthens local economies by stabilizing housing costs and providing training for the trades

Your Voice Matters! Let lawmakers know you support solutions for affordable homeownership!
