TAFE and the quality of skills training are in rapid decline as a result of the state and federal governments’ privatisation agenda and cut backs. Since 2012:

  • More than 5,700 staff have been sacked;
  • Apprenticeships and TAFE students have fallen by 175,000; and
  • Dozens of regional TAFE campuses have been sold off or privatised.

Now is not the time to cut back on TAFE. Now is the time to invest in training, skills and opportunity for our people.

TAFE must continue to be there for working families right across the state, not just today, but into the future.

That's why we must stop any privatisation of TAFE, provide more affordable TAFE courses, and more teachers to provide more courses.
