IT'S TIME TO BAN THE BOMB!

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Chrystia Freeland, Peter Kent, Hélène Laverdière, Tom Mulcair, Elizabeth May

Canadian Voice of Women for Peace asks where is Canada?

Historic negotiations of a treaty banning nuclear weapons are on now at the United Nations! The vast majority of countries are gathering from 15 June to 7 July to finally prohibit these weapons of mass destruction once and for all, the same way that biological and chemical weapons, and landmines and cluster bombs, have been banned.

Canada was an active leader in these treaties, but is missing out on banning nuclear weapons because it has been instructed by the United States to boycott the negotiations.

We urge our government to stand up for Canada's peacemaking values and our commitment to multilateralism and disarmament by engaging constructively in the ban treaty negotiations.
