Jeff Sessions Must Resign as Attorney General

We demand that Jeff Sessions is fired for lying under oath about his communications with the Russians.
Protecting American democracy is one of the most important missions elected officials have — especially since it is becoming increasingly clear that the current administration is unwilling and incapable of doing so by itself.
Here’s what we know:
The Russian government actively sought to influence the 2016 presidential election in support of Donald Trump. [1]
Jeff Sessions lied to the Senate, failing to disclose meeting with Russian officials when he was serving as an advisor to Donald Trump’s campaign for the presidency when directly asked during confirmation hearings to become the US Attorney General. [2]
As Attorney General, Sessions would oversee investigations of Russian tampering and illegal collusion between the Russians and organizations working to elect Donald Trump. [3]
Donald Trump says he has “total” confidence in Jeff Sessions, signaling the Administration’s disregard for finding the truth about this unprecedented interference in the our elections. [4]
America needs an Attorney General who will uphold our Constitution and put country before party politics. Jeff Sessions has proven himself to be incapable of doing either and must resign immediately.

As a constituent and someone who cares about preserving American democracy, I urge you to call for the resignation of US Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
The US intelligence community has already confirmed interference by the Russian government in last year’s presidential election with an eye towards electing Donald Trump. Now there is growing evidence of possible collusion between the Russian government and people connected to the Trump campaign and Trump Organization.
We know that Sessions failed to disclose meeting with Russian officials when he was serving as an advisor to Donald Trump’s campaign for the presidency — even though he was directly asked about such meetings during his confirmation hearings to become the US Attorney General.
As Attorney General, Sessions would oversee investigations of Russian tampering and illegal collusion between the Russians and organizations working to elect Donald Trump, which is a clear conflict of interest that could derail efforts to get at the truth of these allegations.
America needs an Attorney General who will uphold our Constitution and put country before party politics. Jeff Sessions has proven himself to be incapable of doing either.
I urge you to issue a call for his immediate resignation.
