Joe Biden: back the Green New Deal and sign the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge

Joe Biden

Joe Biden is now the only Democratic presidential candidate who has not taken a position on the Green New Deal1, and the only major candidate who has not signed the No Fossil Fuel Money pledge.

Instead, the only information we have about Biden's plans are reports2 that he is considering a ‘middle-ground’ climate policy that supports more fossil fuel development. That is out of line with what the UN says is necessary and would be a death sentence for our generation and the millions of people on the frontlines of the climate crisis.

Biden has since walked back these statements from his advisors and is reported to be releasing his plans on climate change soon. That means there's a critical opportunity now to ask him to do the right thing.

If Biden is serious about climate change -- one of the top issues in this election -- he will take the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge and back a Green New Deal that will create millions of jobs transforming our economy to confront climate change.
