The 2024 election is quickly approaching with stakes as high as ever whether you are most concerned with the economy, threats to our democracy, or conflicts abroad.

The United States and Democrats across this country deserve a nominee for president who is up to the task of campaigning for office, winning, and governing with sound mind, clear communication, and decisive leadership. It has become beyond clear to enough Americans that this is not something that Joe Biden or his campaign can offer us.

Joe Biden is the presumptive presidential nominee for the Democratic Party but will not officially be so until the Democratic National Convention from August 19th-22nd.

As President of the United States, your first duty is to the American people. To represent their needs, to maintain their wellbeing, to advance their interests, and to defend them from danger at home and abroad.

It is the contention of you and the Democratic Party that the Republican nominee for President, Donald J Trump, represents a threat to democracy, to vulnerable communities within the USA, and to global peace and prosperity. A majority of Americans dislike Trump, disapprove of him, and do not want him to get a second term.

It is also the opinion of the majority of Americans that you, Joe Biden, our President, are too old to be President. That you should not be running for reelection. And it is the consensus of the polls that you are currently on track to lose this election to Trump.

Your reelection campaign risks too much to continue and it is clear that in order to fulfill your duty to the American people that you must suspend your reelection campaign immediately so that a stronger candidate may emerge to challenge Donald Trump in the November election.

That is why I, along with the co-signers of this petition, are publicly calling for you to suspend your reelection campaign. Step down now so that we may begin the process of selecting an alternative candidate and strategizing for November. Otherwise, we will be mobilizing further action to increase public pressure until you do.
