Join the Fight to Bring Automatic Voter Registration (AVR) to New York

New York State Legislature

HOW DO WE TURN 1.1 MILLION NEW YORKERS INTO 1.1 MILLION NEW VOTERS? IT STARTS WITH AUTOMATIC VOTER REGISTRATION (AVR).

Automatic Voter Registration (AVR) would transform voter registration from an opt-in process to an opt-out process. AVR boosts civic engagement and increases the accuracy of voter rolls.

We were heartbreakingly close to passing AVR this year, but the bill was pulled at the last minute. Stand with us as we push this over the finish line in 2020, and make sure our elected officials know this a day-one priority for voting rights advocates.

As an advocate for a fair and more inclusive democracy, I was thrilled with the phenomenal progress we made in New York this year. A dozen landmark voting rights reforms passed after years of languishing in the legislature thanks to our collective action.

And while we accomplished a lot last year, there is still more work to be done. Advocates gained momentum and drew widespread bipartisan support for Automatic Voter Registration in New York, however, the legislature fell short of passing the bill in 2019.

Passing AVR on day one of the 2020 legislative session would send a powerful message and set the tone for the new year.
