Justice for dog dangled over fire and cooked alive in China
Chinese Ambassador to the United States Cui Tiankai
In a shockingly cruel video posted on Chinese and Vietnamese social media, a Chinese man dangles a tiny puppy over an open flame, cooking the animal alive as the dog thrashes desperately, howling in pain.
Tragically, dogs in China are often burned alive or otherwise tortured for dog meat in the belief that the adrenaline released by the suffering animal will make their flesh taste better.
China lacks animal protection laws to stop this horrific torture. But it's time to change that. If the government fails to act, countless more dogs will suffer a similar excruciating fate.
The people of China are increasingly taking a stand against animal cruelty, with many caring Chinese activists speaking out against those who torture and kill dogs. Still, an estimated 20 million dogs -- many of them stolen pets -- are slaughtered for meat each year in the country.
Sign this petition to urge the Chinese Ambassador to the United States to work at once to enact strong animal protection laws that will finally ban cruelty to animals and end the cruel dog and cat meat trade for good.

It is time to stop the brutal dog and cat meat trade in China, in which dogs are often burned alive or otherwise tortured for meat in the belief that the adrenaline released by the suffering animal will make their flesh taste better.
China lacks animal protection laws to stop the horrific torture. But this much change. If the government fails to act, countless more dogs and cats will suffer.
I urge you to work at once to enact strong animal protection laws in China that will ban dog and cat meat as well as stop the torture of innocent animals.
