Justice for Kyle Griffin Jr.

Melinda Katz, Queens District Attorney, katz@queensda.org

On April 18th 2021, Kyle Griffin Jr. son of Laurelton C.O.T. Qualisia Allah-Griffin, was fatally wounded by the senseless gun violence which has sadly become commonplace in our city. Through the hard work and diligence of officers and detectives of the NYPD, there has been progress made in the case, but it is now up to the Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz and her office, to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. Local 1106 has started a petition to ask that Melinda and her team use all the resources at their disposal towards that goal. We are asking that our members participate in this petition to the Queens DA's office so that they understand our commitment to justice, our support for the hardworking men and women of the NYPD, and provide some solace to the Griffin family and the community at large.

Dear Ms Katz,

I am writing to you as a member of CWA Local 1106 Queens County NY. Our fellow member, Qualisia Griffin, had her life forever altered with the death of her son Kyle Griffin Jr. on April 18th 2021 at the hands of violent criminals. As you are keenly aware senseless gun violence has ravaged our city in the last 12 months or so particularly in communities of color and underserved populations. We understand the task that your office, along with the hardworking men and women of the NYPD, have in bringing the criminals to justice but fully expect that to be the outcome. As a union member and a concerned citizen I ask that you use all the resources and might of your office to accomplish this and give Qualisia, her family, and the community a sense of satisfaction that our elected officials are addressing our concerns.
