Keep Funding for ADU Construction
CA Senator Nancy Skinner, Chair, Senate Budget & Fiscal Review Committee; Assemblymember Phil Ting, Chair, Assembly Budget Committee
ADUs are a proven affordable housing solution that helps vulnerable homeowners, renters and all California communities deal with the housing crisis. Money in the budget for CalHFA's ADU program has been pulled back--but legislators have the power to keep this high-impact low-cost program alive. Restoring the $50M for this program means it can continue to expand access to accessory dwelling units to families who would otherwise be sidelined by rising costs and limited finance options. Hundreds of families are on the waiting list now. We urge the Legislature to vote NO on reverting the money for this important program.

As a California resident, I urge you to retain the $50 million appropriation for CalHFA's ADU program in the 2022-23 budget that this year’s budget seeks to revert. This money has funded an extremely popular and oversubscribed program that has expanded access to ADUs to low- and middle-income families who would otherwise be sidelined by rising costs and limited finance options. We urge the Legislature to vote NO on reverting the money for this important program.
