Keep Needed State Services In Your Community!

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo

To be delivered Jan 29th at the Capitol: Join us!

The NYS Public Employees Federation (PEF) wants you to sign on to be part of a STATEWIDE SOLUTION to protect the quality services PEF members provide in the Office of Mental Health (OMH), the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), and the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS).

Governor Cuomo's 2013 "New York Rising Communities" proposal to close OPWDD and DOCCS facilities and his proposed "Centers for Excellence" plan for OMH threaten critical state services PEF members provide to communities throughout New York State, and jeopardize the employment of our members and the economic stability of those communities.

Sign on to support PEF's PRIORITIES:

  • Opposing reductions in vital state services to vulnerable New Yorkers in our communities.
  • Opposing privatization of state-provided services, as this lowers the quality of those services.
  • Opposing the reduction of qualified state staff who are professionally trained to provide services.
  • Ensuring the continuity of employment of PEF members with no geographic hardship.
  • Opposing the loss of state-operated services, which shifts the economic responsibility to already economically distressed communities throughout New York State.

The signatures collected here, combined with thousands who have signed on paper, demonstrate serious public concerns with your move to cut important public services for vulnerable New Yorkers.

Your 2013 "New York Rising Communities" proposal to close OPWDD and DOCCS facilities and your proposed "Centers for Excellence" plan for OMH threaten critical state services PEF members provide to communities throughout New York State. Your plans risk damaging the quality of services provided and shifting an undue tax burden to local communities, as well as the livelihood of PEF workers and the economic stability of the communities they serve.

Instead of advancing these plans, join us in supporting true community priorities:

* Opposing reductions in vital state services to vulnerable New Yorkers in our communities.
* Opposing privatization of state-provided services, as this lowers the quality of those services.
* Opposing the reduction of qualified state staff who are professionally trained to provide services.
* Ensuring the continuity of employment of PEF members with no geographic hardship.
* Opposing the loss of state-operated services, which shifts the economic responsibility to already economically distressed communities throughout New York State.

Listen to the people: Save our services!
