Sutro Elementary is a hidden gem in the heart of San Francisco, near Clement Street’s new Chinatown.

We are a thriving Title I school that serves, celebrates, and welcomes TK-5 students and families of all socioeconomic, cultural, and racial/ethnic backgrounds.

Our general education and biliteracy students are intentionally integrated in PE, library/tech, garden, and visual/performing arts classes.

Our school community feels safe, supported, and connected.

Academically, most of our students meet or exceed expectations for English and math, surpassing district and state averages.

So why does SFUSD want to close Sutro at the end of the school year? With no direct feedback from our families and staff? With no plan to keep our student community intact? With no effort to keep students with their teachers?
