Letter to the PUC regarding Xcel
Colorado PUC
Let’s let Colorado's Public Utilities Commission (PUC) know that moms want clean energy for our kids!
Xcel has submitted a proposal to retire some of their dirty coal burning power units in Colorado early and switch to cleaner sources of energy. Helping our state move into a healthier future with cleaner air. That means healthier children, lower rates of severe respiratory illnesses in our grandparents, as well as less red air quality days and more freedom to play outside.
Xcel is also working to make sure they do it right - by researching how they can make the switch without raising rates and looking for ways to replace any lost jobs.
Join us in writing a letter to the PUC and ask that they move this Xcel proposal forward so our kids can benefit from cleaner air! We’ve made it easy and have written a sample letter that you can use.

Dear Colorado Public Utility Commission,
As a mom, I want the best for my kids including excellent health. Clean renewable energy leads to cleaner air which is critical for healthy children. That is why I am joining with Colorado Moms Know Best in writing in support of Xcel’s recent proposal to add more clean energy like wind and solar to Colorado’s energy grid in Xcel’s ERP proceeding (16A-0396E).
Clean air is critical to our kids’ health. Pollution leads to numerous health problems that can impact children their whole lives; can harm lung development and increase asthma rates. I don’t want my kid to face such risks from something that we can change.
More wind and solar power means more time outside for my kids, playing without worry about damaging effects of pollution.
In addition, since the proposal will only go forward if the costs to customers remain the same or lower, the proposal will not strain our family budget. That’s important to me as well as working families everywhere.
I support Xcel’s proposal to explore closing old, dirty energy plants in favor of new renewable energy. Please give the proposal your full consideration.
Thank you,
