Por más de una década, los inmigrantes del estado de Michigan no han podido conseguir licencias de manejar. Durante demasiado tiempo nuestra comunidad ha tenido miedo al conducir al trabajo, llevar a nuestros hijos a la escuela y ver a sus amigos y familiares. Merecemos el derecho de vivir nuestras vidas diarias sin miedo de detención por ICE, deportación, y separación de nuestros seres queridos.
Ya basta. Actualmente, hay 14 estados que permiten que inmigrantes indocumentados obtengan licencias de conducir, incluyendo a Nueva York y Oregon, donde apenas se pasaron leyes en los últimos meses. Michigan tiene que ser el próximo estado que ofrece licencias para todos!

Undocumented immigrants in Michigan have not been able to obtain or renew driver's licenses for over 10 years. For too long, immigrants have lived with the fear that they may be pulled over and detained for simply driving to work or to pick up their children from school. Lack of access to driver's licenses has led to ICE detention, deportation, and family separation, affecting thousands of members of our Michigan community.
I believe all residents in Michigan should be able to live their daily lives with the basic dignity of driving without fear. Currently, 14 states allow undocumented immigrants to obtain driver's licenses, including New York and Oregon that just passed legislation in the last few months. It is time for Michigan to become the 15th state and pass a law allowing Driver's Licenses for all.
