Lindsey Graham: Demand that McConnell bring the HEROES Act to the Senate floor for debate

Senator Lindsey Graham

It's time for the type of response we deserve from our government--one that is competent and recognizes the realities of this national emergency. Many millions are out of work and/or struggling financially, infection and death rates continue to climb, and the Senate has turned its back on the American people. ENOUGH!

Because of the federal government's failure to provide cohesive and competent leadership, the COVID-19 crisis is only beginning. “This is a moment for leadership and urgency. . .The Senate must do its job and move meaningful legislation that recognizes and addresses the impact of COVID on communities of color. It cannot drop the ball right now and risk putting the country into an economic tailspin," said Leah Greenberg, co-executive director of the Indivisible Project.

Dear Senator Graham,

South Carolinians and all working-class Americans are suffering because of our government's inadequate handling of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Heroes Act would provide the funding necessary to secure our elections, extend the disaster unemployment insurance that is keeping millions afloat, and would expand protections for front line and essential workers. And, despite Republican efforts to strip them, it would also provide protections and support for immigrant families that so far have been left out of Congress’ relief packages.

Senator Graham, we are your constituents and we are suffering. It has been two months since the House passed this important legislation, and this bill should have been brought to the Senate floor *before* Congress left DC for the July 4 holiday. As COVID-19 cases continue to climb in SC and across the nation, you must make this a top priority when the Senate reconvenes in July.
