Lower Drug Prices Now!

Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Chairmen Frank Pallone and Richard Neal

The Medicare Negotiation and Competitive Licensing Act of 2019 already has 125 co-sponsors. It’s a common sense bill that has real teeth to hold the greedy pharmaceutical corporations accountable.

1 out of 5 Americans can’t afford their prescriptions. We need bold action now. Democrats must take on the pharmaceutical industry and lower drug prices for everyone.

Reps. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX), Peter Welch (D-VT) and Elijah Cummings (D-MD) have introduced a new bill that, at long last, allows Medicare to negotiate drug prices. And because this bill will receive massive resistance from the pharmaceutical industry, Doggett and his colleagues have crafted the bill with real teeth. The Medicare Negotiation and Competitive Licensing Act of 2019 is written in a way that if a drug company refuses to negotiate in good faith, the bill empowers the government to allow generic competition and end the company’s monopoly. There are already 125 co-sponsors in the House, this should be our starting point.
