Make Rutgers a Sanctuary Campus: Petition by Rutgers YDSA
Rutgers Board of Governors

With the second election of Donald Trump, the right-wing attacks on the working class, marginalized people, and higher education have only escalated. Now is the time to stand up in defense of our classmates, coworkers, and community members.
DEMANDS
- Rutgers University officials and police refuse to work with ICE officers, National Guard, or other militarized Federal forces that may be utilized illegally and unjustly by the administration to target marginalized community members
- University refuses to enforce anti-trans policies
- Student, Grad Student, and Faculty Health Insurance Plans will continue to cover gender affirming care and medication
- University will provide recognition and support of legal name changes on documentation etc.
- University commit to preserving DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) programs
- Including the preservation and integrity of all higher education departments (such as committing to not cut grants, funding, or staff)
- Continued support of University cultural centers
- Continued support of accessibility programs and nondiscrimination to people with disabilities
- Protect the free speech, right of peaceful protest, and academic freedom of students, faculty, and staff on our campus
- Work with local municipalities (i.e. city council) to commit to nonenforcement of and noncompliance with Trump policies that attack immigrant, trans, or working class communities
