Marriott: Break the Silence

Marriott

Sexual harassment is a pervasive problem many people face at work - especially in the hotel industry.

Marriott, the biggest hotel company on the planet, has refused to disclose the number of incidents of sexual harassment and assault in their hotels, only reporting 44 formal legal complaints.

It's time for solutions. It's time for the truth.

Marriott is the biggest hotel company in the world. 51% of their employees are women, and many are people of color and immigrants.

Last year, Marriott workers struck for and won greater sexual harassment protections—a historic step towards ending the pervasive problem of sexual harassment in the hotel industry.

Marriott asks employees to report incidents of sexual harassment, but when Marriott was asked to report the total number of incidents to their shareholders, they refused. Marriott only disclosed the number of formal legal complaints, 44 out of 177,000 employees over 5 years, worldwide.

According to the EEOC’s Select Task Force on the Study of Harassment in the Workplace, anywhere from 25% to 85% of women have experienced sexual harassment in the workplace, and only 6% to 13% of individuals who experience harassment file a formal complaint.

We demand that Marriott tell the truth about the real number of incidents of harassment and assault in their hotels and engage in dialogue with employees --
especially survivors—to create and implement solutions globally.

Sign here to tell Marriott to believe survivors, protect their employees, and tell the truth about their hotels.
