New Balance--stop funding right-wing candidates and organizations!

James Davis, CEO of New Balance

New Balance CEO James Davis has contributed over $12,000 to Susan Collins. In 2016, he contributed nearly $2 million to conservative candidates and right-wing political operations (including sending nearly $400,000 to Trump Victory, Trump's joint fundraising campaign). Other members of the New Balance executive team have also made significant financial contributions to Collins.

The US Senate’s decision to confirm Brett Kavanaugh represents the worst conservative over-reach we’ve seen in quite some time. And while many of us are working hard to elect a new Congress, we’ve also got to take action against the corporations that have kept this Senate in power.

On Wednesday, October 10th at 5 pm, we’ll be gathering outside the New Balance store in Philadelphia (1615 Walnut St.) to return our New Balance sneakers, and to pledge to stop buying from New Balance, until they stop funding the politicians who are keeping working Americans, women, people of color and the LGBTQ+ community on the run.

As runners, exercise enthusiasts, and just ordinary sneaker-wearers, we were surprised to learn that New Balance CEO James Davis has been funding right-wing candidates and political operations, including Maine Senator Susan Collins & President Trump. In 2016, Davis contributed nearly $2 million to conservative candidates and right-wing political operations. Other members of the New Balance executive team have also made significant financial contributions to Collins.
