Tent cities are NOT safe! We demand that the Trump Administration stops looking to build tent cities to hold migrant children, and instead reunites them with families. Kids flee their home countries for safety in the U.S. Children should NOT be separated from their families, and they should not be placed in detention.

The Trump administration's decision to detain children for coming to the U.S. is cruel and inhumane. Despite massive pushback, Trump and his immigration agencies haven't stopped. They're now looking to build tent cities at military posts around the Texas border to hold migrant children.

Since the Trump administration announced their new zero tolerance policy of separating children from parents who face prosecution, child shelters are filling up. The number of migrant children held in U.S. government custody without parents has increased 20%! Separating children from their families can cause lasting harm to both young people and adults. A jailed father who was separated from his wife and child tragically took his own life in May.

Children don't belong in tents, and they shouldn't be separated from their families. Separating children from their parents and placing them in camps is what authoritarian governments do -- not what the U.S. should be doing.
