No Oil Profits for Occupation and Genocide
Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer; Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper
The Rosebank oil field is a climate disaster waiting to happen – but the problem doesn’t stop there. It could also send over £200 million to one of Israel’s biggest oil companies, which operates in illegal settlements in the West Bank and supplies fuel to the Israeli military.
If approved, Rosebank would produce more CO₂ than the 73 lowest-emitting countries do in a year. It would bust UK climate goals and is not compatible with a safe climate.
Rosebank could also send more than £200 million in profits to the Delek Group - one of Israel’s biggest oil companies. Rosebank’s co-owner, Ithaca Energy, is majority-owned by the Delek Group. Delek profits from illegal settlements in the West Bank and its subsidiary Delek Israel supplies fuel to the Israeli military, with military personnel able to refuel at hundreds of its petrol stations. It has been included by the UN in a list of businesses that are connected to human rights concerns in Palestine. Delek has already made $1 billion from North Sea oil and gas through Ithaca Energy.
Legal experts are warning that approving Rosebank could put the UK at risk of breaching international law. Ithaca has also now submitted an application to drill Cambo - the oil field we successfully stopped in 2021.
By fuelling the Israeli military and profiting from Israel’s illegal settlements, Delek is contributing to the ongoing violence, dispossession, and genocide faced by Palestinians.
We cannot stand by as North Sea extraction becomes a revenue stream to a company with links to occupation.

We, the undersigned, believe that the UK Government must:
1. Stop the flow of North Sea oil profits to companies linked to occupation and genocide in Palestine: The UK government must ensure that no profit from North Sea oil and gas exploitation goes to Ithaca Energy, or any other oil & gas companies that are complicit in the illegal occupation of Palestinian territories, or companies that provide services to the Israeli military. It can do this by denying permission to develop fossil fuel projects for Ithaca Energy, including rejecting the Rosebank oil field and future applications for the Cambo oil field.
2. Help end the genocide in Gaza and Israel's occupation of Palestine: The UK government must ensure Israel's genocidal attacks on Gaza permanently cease; implement an arms embargo on Israel; employ every diplomatic tool to help end the siege, genocide and ensure humanitarian aid access to Gaza, and to bring to an end Israel's system of apartheid.
