No White Supremacists in Philly!
Andrew McDougall, Independence National Historical Park; Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney
We the people - im/migrants, people of color, LGBTQ folks, women, Muslims, Jews and all workers who oppose racism and bigotry - say NO to the planned gathering of white supremacist and alt-right forces in Philadelphia on November 17.
We will not let violent white supremacists build support in Philadelphia. In just the last two weeks alone, we have seen the heinous, racist murder of two Black people in a supermarket in Kentucky, the anti-Semitic and anti-migrant massacre of 11 people in Pittsburgh, the murder of 2 women in Florida by a “men’s rights” activist, the continued capture of thousands of migrant children in cages across the country, and the mobilization of over 5,000 troops and far-right militia groupings to the U.S./Mexico border to attack refugees from Central America.
These are crimes of white supremacy! The same violent, reactionary forces plan to rally at Independence Hall on Saturday, November 17. Many of them are openly discussing bringing firearms, or are part of right-wing paramilitary groupings.
We are the ones who will keep us safe. We demand the City and National Parks Service stop this demonstration. We call on all people who believe that ICE, Trump, the police, wars at home and abroad, and the growing international white supremacist and Neo-Nazi forces pose the real threat to our communities to join us in the streets on November 17. We won't allow the scapegoating of migrants, refugees, queer and trans people, or anyone else to go unchallenged or divide us. Our enemy is racism and bigotry.
We say NO to fascists and racists! YES to migrants and refugees, trans people, and all of those under attack! Let’s build a fighting, united movement to stop the rise of white supremacy, misogyny, and bigotry!
