Preserving our best traditions at Harvard Club of Boston

Michael H. Shanahan, President, Harvard Club of Boston Board of Governors

Harvard Club of Boston is undergoing a $16 million dollar renovation "designed with the contemporary member in mind." The Club's renovation website traditiontransformed.com boasts a New Harvard Club of Boston that will be a "A World-class Venue for Today’s Guests."

Meanwhile, Club management is peeling back the benefits of the proud staff who have served alumni at the Club for decades. Taking from the families of the people who serve us is not in line with the tradition of our Club, the values of modern members, nor of Harvard University.

As a member of the Harvard community, it is important to me that everything that uses Harvard's name upholds a high standard, including the Harvard Club of Boston.

I ask that the Harvard Club Board of Governors use their authority to honor our best tradition, our community. Modernization efforts should include taking care of staff. Employees of our Club should be able to preserve their benefits.

Thank you
