Not Our Labor Secretary!

United States Senators

Join working people across the nation to demand the US Senate rejects bad boss Andy Puzder for Labor Secretary!

Donald Trump nominated one of America’s most notorious anti-worker fast-food CEOs to lead the US Department of Labor (DOL), the very department responsible for protecting the rights of working people across the nation. The DOL routinely investigates violations to federal overtime regulations, minimum wage and worker safety laws, and more. We don’t have to tell you what a disaster it would be for California’s workers with Puzder running the DOL.

Trump couldn't have picked a worse nominee for Labor Secretary. Puzder is a notoriously bad boss - nearly 60 percent of Department of Labor investigations of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s locations show at least one violation of federal wage laws. If confirmed, Puzder will oversee the very department that has been investigating his businesses for violating labor laws over the past 15 years. This nomination clearly presents an alarming conflict of interest.

Even more offensive, Puzder openly glamorized automation in his restaurants over human beings, stating robots are "always polite, they always upsell, they never take a vacation, they never show up late, there’s never a slip-and-fall or an age, sex or race discrimination case.” He even complained about having to abide by the law by providing meal breaks for his workers in California!

Working people deserve someone to run our Department of Labor who recognizes the value of investing in workers, not replacing us with robots to avoid treating us with respect and dignity.

Former CKE employee Laura McDonald said it best when describing Puzder: “We can’t trust him to look out for all workers."

A bad boss has no business running a company, let alone running our Department of Labor! I demand you reject Donald Trump's nominee for Secretary of Labor, Andy Puzder.

Working people of this nation are deeply concerned by Puzder's history with the workers who keep his businesses running every day. Repeated instances of wage theft violations in his businesses, his open criticism of paid sick leave and meal break laws, his idolization of automation over human beings in his restaurants, and his disdain for minimum wage increases and overtime rule expansions, and much more should out outright disqualify him as an option.

Working people of this nation deserve someone to run our Department of Labor who recognizes the value of investing in workers, not replacing us with robots to avoid treating us with respect and dignity.

We demand you reject Andy Puzder for consideration to be our Secretary of Labor.
