Oppose War and Economic Sanctions on Iran

We are calling on all Democratic Party presidential candidates to oppose war and economic sanctions on Iran.
Sanctions are economic warfare, preventing ordinary Iranians from accessing the medicine and basic necessities they need to survive. Sanctions are collective punishment, plunging people into poverty and placing the entire population under siege. Rather than an alternative to war, sanctions pave the way for war. We don’t need another unnecessary war and we don’t need to perpetuate another humanitarian crisis.
We demand that all Democratic Party presidential candidates prioritize diplomacy, and oppose economic sanctions and war on Iran.

I am writing to request that you make a public statement opposing war and economic sanctions on Iran.
Sanctions are not a viable alternative to war. Sanctions are economic warfare, preventing ordinary Iranians from accessing the medicine and basic necessities they need to survive. Sanctions are collective punishment, plunging people into poverty and placing the entire population under siege. Rather than serving as an alternative to war, sanctions instead pave the way for violence and hostilities. For many of us, the U.S. has been at war almost our entire lives. We do not need another unnecessary war and we do not need to perpetuate another humanitarian crisis.
Bullying an entire population because the U.S. disagrees with the actions of a government is wrong. I demand that all Democratic Party presidential candidates prioritize diplomacy and oppose sanctions and war on Iran.
We hope that our party will resist calls for violence and instead be a champion of peace.
