SIGN NOW: TELL CONGRESS AND THE PENTAGON WE DEMAND ANSWERS ABOUT ENDLESS WAR

Congress and the Pentagon

Is war with Iran imminent? Or is this just more hot rhetoric from the White House?

After nearly 18 years, three presidents, $5.6 trillion, and hundreds of thousands of human lives lost, it’s time Americans started asking more questions about where, why, and for how long the U.S. will remain at war.

It’s been more than a year since the last Pentagon press briefing, and as turmoil bubbles up in the Middle East, the American public are left without answers.

Enough is enough. We must demand the Pentagon hold press briefings, and that Congress hold a robust debate on the limits of the 9/11-era legislation that authorized a never-ending series of wars.

In a democracy, we must have timely and accurate information to hold our elected leaders accountable. We cannot stand by and get stonewalled by the Trump administration on important policy decisions like war and peace.

The American people demand immediate answers about war and peace. After more than a year of complete silence, the Pentagon must resume regular press briefings and articulate a coherent defense strategy to the American people. And we demand that Congress engage in a robust, public debate about endless war and the continued use of the 9/11-era war authorization. In a democracy, there must be transparency and a free flow of information so the public and Congress can make informed decisions and provide essential oversight.
