All adoptees deserve citizenship.

When the Child Citizenship Act (CCA) was signed into law in 2000, it granted U.S. citizenship to all international adoptees except those born before January 1983 –leaving thousands of adoptees at risk of being deported. Thankfully the S2275 Adoptee Citizenship Act of 2015 (ACA) can rewrite the CCA to grant citizenship to all international adoptees – and it’s on the verge of being passed in Congress.

Today, we’re in Washington D.C. for the second Adoptee Citizenship Act Day of Action. Adoptees who don’t have citizenship will continue to share their stories with representatives to emphasize the necessity of the bill’s passage.

All of us can advocate for adoptees by showing up and demanding action from our Members of Congress – regardless of whether or not we're adoptees ourselves.

Will you advocate for adoptees by calling today? By adding your number, 18MR will call and direct you to six important legislator's offices.

Adoptees have been working on this law for many years, and now we are on the verge of winning! Let’s support adoptees who are in danger of being deported and ensure that they can stay home.
