Petition for Immediate Ceasefire: A Call to Action for Nashville City Council Members
Nashville City Council Members
In response to the recent humanitarian crisis in Gaza, it is imperative that our city council and government officials take immediate and decisive action to address the urgent needs of the affected population. Despite holding a prayer gathering for Ukraine on March 3, 2022, following a war that claimed many civilian lives, our council has yet to acknowledge the ongoing atrocities in Gaza. It is the council member’s job to project the voices of the people who they represent and we are asking these demands to be heard and recognized.
We call on the city council to fulfill its duty to listen to and represent the concerns of the community, ensuring that humanitarian aid and justice are prioritized without delay.

We, the undersigned, urgently appeal to your sense of duty, compassion, and commitment to the well-being of Nashvillians and the international community at large. Nashville remains complicit in the genocide of Palestinians. As dedicated citizens of this great city, we elected you to champion the redirection of our federal tax dollars towards the well-being of Nashville, addressing urgent issues such as healthcare access, education, and poverty—not to support a genocide. We implore you to take immediate action against this unspeakable violence and declare a ceasefire now.
During this ceasefire, we call on all parties to unconditionally:
1. Ensure the immediate, uncompromised, and undisturbed delivery of vital aid to Gaza, along with safe passage for humanitarian workers.
2. Secure the immediate release of all civilian hostages, political prisoners, and individuals held without trial or charge, with protection from recapture.
3. Guarantee unrestricted access for humanitarian convoys to all essential facilities, including hospitals, refugee camps, shelters, and aid distribution areas.
4. Allow unrestricted and uncompromised passage and access for rescue teams and equipment to aid and rescue trapped individuals.
5. Revoke all evacuation orders, honor declared safe zones, and cease all acts of ethnic cleansing.
6. Permit uninterrupted medical evacuation for all critically ill and injured patients, ensuring return access after treatment.
7. Require Israel to provide reparations for damages to healthcare, education, culture, housing, faith, the environment, and both human and non-human loss of life.
By declaring a ceasefire, we send a powerful message that Nashville values the sanctity of life and does not condone genocide.
Use your influence to bring about this crucial change. Let us set an example for other communities by demonstrating that, in the face of adversity, Nashville comes together to prioritize peace and unity for all.
