U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Texas)
RE: Urgent Request for Immediate Parole for Jana Jaramillo Patiño, Kewin Daniel Patiño Bustamante, and Fernando Jaramillo Solano.
We, the undersigned members of the Durango, Colorado community, and concerned citizens, are writing to express our deep concern and heartfelt support for Jana Jaramillo Patiño, Kewin Daniel Patiño Bustamante, and Fernando Jaramillo Solano. They are currently detained in the South Texas Immigration Detention Center in Dilley, TX.
Our Urgent Request
We respectfully and urgently request that release immediately the family and parole be granted immediately for Jana, Kewin, and Fernando so that they may be reunited with the mother in Durango, Colorado. This family deserves the opportunity to continue their asylum case in freedom and dignity, surrounded by the community that cares for them.
Reasons for Immediate Parole
Wrongful Detention/Mistaken Identity: Their detention on Monday, October 27, 2025, is the direct result of a case of mistaken identity. ICE agents were reportedly seeking a different individual, not the members of this family.
Zero Criminal History: The Department of Police has confirmed that none of the family members has a criminal record or accusation on file.
Strong Community Ties & Moral Character: The father, Fernando Jaramillo Solano, is a hardworking, contributing member of our community, and his children are known to be responsible, dedicated students. They possess an excellent moral character rooted in their Christian faith and have never committed a crime in their lives.
No Flight or Safety Risk: They pose no flight risk or danger to the community. Their deep, verifiable ties to Durango, Colorado, make them excellent candidates for immediate release on parole.
Guaranteed Community Support: Many of us in the community stand ready to provide them with housing, financial support, and assistance in meeting all required check-ins and appointments should they be granted parole.
As members of this community who believe in fairness, justice, the rule of law and compassion, we ask you to consider the immense hardship this asylum-seeking family has already endured. Please allow them to pursue their case from home.

Dear U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement:
I am writing as a member of community to express deep concern and heartfelt support for Jana Jaramillo Patiño, Kewin Daniel Patiño Bustamante, and Fernando Jaramillo Solan, who are currently detained in South Texas Immigration Detention Center in Dilley, TX.
I learned of Jana Jaramillo Patiño, Kewin Daniel Patiño Bustamante, and Fernando Jaramillo Solano since Monday, October 27, 2025 when they were wrongfully detained on their way to school. It has come to my attention that their detention appears to be the result of a mistaken identity – ICE agents were reportedly seeking a different individual.
Their detention has affected our entire local community as they have shown deep respect for the laws and values of this country. The father is a hard working member of the community and the children are good and responsible students. Many of us in the community stand ready to provide them with housing, financial support, and assistance in meeting all required check-ins and appointments should they be granted parole.
They are not a danger to the community and have deep community ties here in Durango, Colorado. They are asylum seekers who have already endured so much. I believe in fairness, justice, and compassion, I firmly believe that they are not a flight risk and will comply with all requirements if released. I respectfully request that parole be granted immediately so that they can reunite with the mother in Durango. This family deserves the opportunity to continue their case in freedom and dignity, surrounded by the community that cares for them.
Thank you for your careful consideration, and commitment to justice and compassion in this critical matter.
Sincerely,
