Pets at Home - Stop Selling Animals

Pets at Home

Pets at Home is the UK's leading 'pet' retailer, with over 450 stores nationwide. In those stores, there are animals available for purchase.

We are currently experiencing what is being referred to as a 'rescue crisis' in the UK. Hundreds of thousands of animals are being left unwanted and abandoned with nowhere to go. The few animal rescues being run, often by individuals in their private homes, are full to capacity.

There are many more animals than there are homes for, with many people choosing to buy animals from stores rather than rescuing. Animals from stores can be bought on impulse and without the buyers having done the appropriate research, meaning they are more likely to be given up for rehoming in the future.

We are asking Pets at Home to respond to the UK's current rescue crisis and please, stop selling animals.

The company has the opportunity to join other large pet retailers and end the sale of live animals, to align with the changing attitudes are animals and 'pet' care, as well as their aim to create a "better world for pets".

We are currently experiencing what is being referred to as a 'rescue crisis' in the UK. Hundreds of thousands of animals are being left unwanted and abandoned with nowhere to go. The few animal rescues being run, often by individuals in their private homes, are full to capacity.

At Pets at Home, you have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of animals being kept as pets in the UK, by advocating for the 'Adopt, Don't Shop' ethos and championing ethical animal care. This way, the company would align with the changing attitudes towards animal care, and truly reflect the company values to 'create a better world for pets'.

Your successful business could continue to thrive without the presence of live animals in stores, as do other UK pet retailers. In fact, partnering with local rescues to find animals in need loving homes, and providing the best, most suitable products on the market would set a precedent for the UK pet industry.

Now is the time to make change.

Please create a better world for pets.
