Protect Public Service Workers and Their Paychecks

Utah State Legislature

Utahns agree that public service workers, like teachers, nurses and municipal workers, strengthen our communities, but a bad bill currently in the State Legislature aims to reduce their basic rights.

HB 241 limits workers' ability to speak up for the services they provide, their safety on the job and the taxpayers they serve.

That means if HB 241 is passed, public service workers would be treated as second class citizens in the eyes of our state.

Sign on to urge your legislators to OPPOSE this anti-worker bill and STOP efforts to move our state backward! >>

HB 241 is an attack on public service workers simply because they are public service workers.

As with many workplaces, there are hundreds of charitable and professional voluntary deductions that employees can make through their paychecks. Singling out union dues for exclusion reveals the legislation's goal — to strip workers of the freedom to decide what they do with their own paycheck.

We don't want to return to the days where favoritism ruled public sector jobs. That's why I ask you to OPPOSE HB 241 and ALL future attacks on public service workers.
