PROTECT STUDENTS’ FREEDOM TO LEARN

Missouri Legislature

Since January, engaged educators from across Missouri have contacted their Missouri legislators, asking them to vote against harmful legislation curtailing students’ freedom to learn and educators’ ability to teach history honestly and factually. With less than 24 hours until the Missouri Legislature ends, we must continue to stand up for our students and colleagues.

In the few hours the legislature has remaining, some politicians are trying to push their radical agenda to interfere with local curriculum decisions, restrict factually accurate information in our classroom, and penalize educators.

Legislators need to hear from educators about the harmful impacts of legislation seeking to assert state control over local curriculum, deny students honest historical information, and penalize educators based on vague standards. Please add your name to our petition to members of the Missouri General Assembly.

We, the undersigned educators, parents, and Missouri citizens, urge you to reject any legislation that imposes one-size-fits-all mandates on local curriculum decisions, restricts factually accurate information in our classroom, and penalizes educators.
