Protect the Culture of Love and Honor
Miami University Administration
As the students, faculty, and extended community of this campus, we should have every right to make our opinions heard on changes occurring across the campus. Throughout the last several months, a culture of fear has been building that threaten to take our freedoms, our voices, and our identities. In this letter, we are asking Miami's administration to protect the safety and belonging of our communities on campus for all students, faculty, staff, and organizations, defend academic freedom, safeguard institutional integrity, and reject loyalty oaths. However, we need campus wide support in order to make these asks a reality. Please join us in ensuring that all students have the right to exist and make their voices heard on this campus!

Dear Miami University Administration,
In the context of recent institutional changes within our universities and our state, there is growing uncertainty on campuses across Ohio about the safety and freedom of our students, faculty, staff, and academic integrity. As such, it remains pertinent for Miami University to support its community in entirety when being faced with such uncertainty, confusion, and institutional turmoil. With this in mind, we, the Miami University community, call on our administration to:
Visibly protect the safety and belonging of our communities on campus for all students, faculty, staff, and organizations
Defend academic freedom and institutional integrity
Reject loyalty oaths
Here in Ohio, especially at Miami, we have a lot at stake. We hold great pride in our institution prestige, as well as our environment that embraces everyone that steps foot on our campus. Without embracing an environment of safety, well being, and belonging on our college campuses, there will be mental and physical health repercussions for everyone involved, but especially our most vulnerable students on campus, of which you have sworn to protect. Without academic freedom and institutional integrity, our university faces reputational downfall, as we lose enrollment and fail to compete with some of the top schools not just in our state, but also in our nation.
It is up to you, our administrators, to visibly and concretely affirm your commitment to student belonging. We ask that you hang a banner in the Student Activities and Engagement office window reading “Love and Honor for All” in replacement of the flags that previously occupied the space. This will show support to students of ALL backgrounds, and does not go against SB1 in showing support to any particular group. As a student organization focused on uniting Miami students to take pride, power, and an objective voice in bettering this campus for the future of all students, we ask for your support in this matter. All students made the conscious decision to attend this university and are owed equal opportunity to succeed academically, socially, financially, and professionally. We ask of you to ensure every Redhawk can feel the values of Love and Honor guiding this university to drive all students, faculty, staff, and organizations towards success.
Sincerely,
The Miami Community
