Protect Wildlife for Future Generations

Senator Mark Warner & Senator Tim Kaine

The United States Senate is currently debating our nation’s finances for 2018, including funding cuts to important conservation programs andpolicy measures that would threaten our nation's wildlife.

Among these harmful measures are attempts to repeal or undermine the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, and the Endangered Species Act. Not only does this jeopardize legions of wildlife, it also could put humans at risk of greater harm.

Urge Senator Mark Warner and Senator Tim Kaine to stand up for wildlife by saying NO to cuts in conservation funding and NO to harmful environmental riders. Virginia’s wildlife will thank you for it!

I urge you to stand up for this country's species, human and otherwise, who will be harmed by anti-environmental riders, conservation funding cuts, and a lack of action on spending caps in upcoming fiscal legislation.

Over the past forty years, Congress has put safeguards in place for humans and wildlife so that the air that we breathe and the water we drink are clean and free from harmful materials. Regulations such as the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act were passed by bipartisan majorities who knew that the public and private sectors could work together to keep our environment safe and clean.

As fiscal negotiations are ongoing and the March 23 deadline draws near, I urge you to oppose funding cuts and riders to larger pieces of legislation that would undercut our vital environmental safeguards. I hope that you will understand that wildlife should not be an afterthought. The health of our animal species is interlinked to the health of our own species. We exist in the same environment and all require clean air, clean water, and the preservation of wild spaces. As your constituent, I hope that you will do the right thing and help protect our wildlife and human populations.
