PUBLIC STATEMENT
The state of Colorado is home to a number of grassroots Indivisible groups who believe in investing in our state to preserve and improve our way of life. To this end, the undersigned fully support Proposition CC on November’s ballot.
Prop CC would retain and invest state revenue for education and transportation without raising taxes. Current state limits stifle business development and hinder the economic mobility of all Coloradans. Though Colorado regularly ranks among the top economies in the country, investment in our K-12 public schools and teachers consistently ranks near the bottom because of an arbitrary 30-year old budget formula. For example, over 60% of Colorado school districts have now moved to a four day week.
If passed, an estimated $310M in 2020 and $342M in 2021 would be equally divided between transportation, K-12 education, and higher education. Transparency and accountability would be provided through an annual, independent, publicly available audit. Current estimates indicate that this investment would be only $37 per person annually (averaged), and would occur only in the best of economic years. It’s worth it to invest in Colorado for the long term.
