Racism Out Of Politics
Parliament of Australia
The next Federal election is on May 3, and politicians are again turning to our communities as a political scapegoat for decades of policy failure. We are calling for all politicians to stop scapegoating our communities and engage in meaningful debates about real long-term solutions.
Australia has a long and shameful history of racist politics. Politicians have long used discriminatory policies and rhetoric to escape accountability and create division for their own electoral gain. Rather than propose real, meaningful long-term solutions, politicians and political parties regularly revert to the scapegoating of our communities for the issues of the day. This election is no different.
Add your name to call for an end to this racist scapegoating. By adding your name you are helping to demonstrate that the vast majority of people in this country reject the politics of racism and division. These lazy election tactics are increasingly ineffective and won't help any politician to win.
The more people who add their name, the stronger our call will be. Please sign and share this petition today.

We are calling for all politicians to stop engaging in racist scapegoating and xenophobia in an attempt to grow support for your election campaigns. All elected politicians have a responsibility to engage in meaningful debate about all drivers of the issues we are all facing. Instead, we are increasingly seeing finger-pointing at migrants and asylum-seekers and a refusal to reflect on the decades of policy decisions that have contributed to the issues and crises we are all faced with today.
Racist and xenophobic electioneering has a direct negative impact on communities and is increasingly ineffective as a vote-winner. We are asking all politicians to treat the electorate with the dignity and respect we deserve and improve the standard of political debate to help us all live in safety and create real, long-term solutions together.
